Winter/Spring 2012 Review Contest
Reviews by real readers are the most important part of getting the word out for new fiction. As such, to encourage reviews of the works coming out of Insane Angel Studios, we've set up a little contest.
Anyone who posts multiple reviews of A Prayer for Dead Kings, Clearwater Dawn, or any of the Tales of the Endlands (multiple reviews meaning reviewing more than one title, and/or posting the same review to your personal blog or review site, bookstore sites, fiction sites, or what have you), feel free to drop Scott a line to let him know. The person who manages to post reviews of any and all Insane Angel Studios titles to the highest number of individual websites by June 30, 2012 will win the exclusive honor of becoming/creating a character in Scott's next book (an epic-fantasy novel; details of plot and such are still under wraps, but you'll find out more if you're the lucky winner).
This process can be as simple as Scott using the winner's name (or a suitable pseudo-medieval variant thereof) for a walk-on character for the amusement of friends and family when the book is out. It can be as creatively complicated as having one of the winner's D&D characters or a character in the winner's own fictional works make a cameo appearance in the upcoming novel. It'll be the winner's choice as to what he or she wants to do, and all rights to the winner's character/name will remain with him/her.
You don't have to write multiple different reviews of any single title (though feel free if you're inspired to). Just make sure that a review appears in at least a couple of different places, including but not limited to:
- The book's page at Amazon.com, Smashwords.com, BarnesAndNoble.com, the Apple iBooks store, and so on.
- The forums at any of those e-book stores, or forums and review boards at other bookstores.
- The forums at ENWorld, RPGNet, and other fantasy and RPG sites.
- General book sites such as Goodreads.com, Shelfari.com, Librarything.com, et al.
It's important to note (so we're going to put it in big red letters) that there's no parenthetically clandestine nudge-nudge, wink-wink "positive review" being sought in this offer. This isn't an attempt to scam fake accolades, but simply to get the word out on Insane Angel Studio's growing list of titles through people who are interested in sharing their thoughts on great fiction. Scott is typically very happy with his work, and he hopes others will be, too. However, as long as you can write a thoughtful and reasoned review that says "I wasn't crazy about the book because it did X, Y, and Z", that's still great information for a prospective reader who does likes books that do X, Y, and Z.
Any questions or comments, drop Scott a line.
